This is a rectangular pad, orbital sander that's fantastic for fitting into small spaces, sanding small surfaces like desk legs, and for end sanding.
The Festool gadget makes sanding tolerable. I construct furniture as a pastime, and sanding is my least favorite part of the process. Because of the built-in mud collection port, connecting it to a good keep vacuum ( I use a Fein, but Festool has nice ones, too ) way nearly no sanding dust left on the outside you may be sanding or in the air. There are holes within the sanding pad, and corresponding gaps within the sandpaper, that enable the vacuum to suck up the mud as it's created, proper off of the outside. Unless I'm using an extraordinarily aggressive, higher sander, I do not feel the need for a mud mask.
